About us
EGU is a medium-sized church (between 40 and 70 on a Sunday Morning) based in-between the rolling hills of the Lincolnshire Wolds and flat, cycle-friendly Fens, in the charming and ancient market town of Louth.

We aim in our teaching and worship to uphold the authority of the Bible, and seek to establish the original authors' intent with appropriate context, to be Jesus-focused and relevant to the needs of the culture in which we live whilst being part of the tradition from which we have come.

As the name suggests we are a church that is a union of two others. This means that we are mainly Baptist but still affiliated with the URC. Our church family, however, is made up of people from all sorts of denominations and backgrounds, both church and no church.
CHURCH STATEMENT OF FAITH
What We Believe!
We believe in the God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
We believe in God the Father, maker of heaven and earth. We believe that God created men and women in his own image. We also believe that due to the fall, that all men and women are sinners and that through sin, death entered the world. We believe that everyone is loved by God, but everyone is in need of a saviour.
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We believe he is the saviour who died on the cross to take away our sins.
We believe Jesus rose again from the dead, ascended into heaven and will one day return.
We believe that Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life and the only way to God the Father.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who lives in, guides, strengthens and transforms us through new life that can be had in Christ.
We believe that the Bible is inspired by God, that it bears unique witness to Christ and is, therefore, the final authority on all aspects of Christian belief and behaviour, reliable and sufficient in all that it affirms.

We believe in the Church as the people of God, the body of Christ, and the temple of the Holy Spirit. Its role is to glorify God and serve his purposes in the world . We believe that all members of the Church have a place and have gifts, given by God to serve him, each other, the wider Christian community and beyond.
